I was delighted to be asked if I would consider donating some work to a new garden being constructed at the North Devon District Hospital. This is a space for people who have to cope with cancer, either for themselves or their loved ones. The garden will be a special place for calm reflection or a moment of solitude, a place for solace and consolation.

I often feel while I’m working on my sculpture that I am engaged in a form of solace, or maybe comfort or reassurance, even resilience against difficult times. So I’m humbled to think my work might help others. It was described as ‘beautiful and uplifting’. Its a privilege to be asked to help.

We chose two of the abstract pieces from the Coastal Blues series.
